Biography :

The CRY! is a five-piece Rock 'n' Roll (Power-pop) band from Portland, OR. With influences like Chuck Berry, The Ramones, The Rolling Stones and The Beach Boys the band has re-crafted the 2 min. pop song for a new generation. The CRY! effortlessly merges 50's style vocal harmonies, the jangle of 60's pop hooks and the glam-rock attitude of the 70's with the raw pinkish emotion of the Portland (OR) street culture from which they emerged.

Founded in 2011, the band has experienced remarkable early success! The CRY!’s self- titled/self-produced debut album (released in Nov. 2011) has sold-out four initial pressings (CD & 12"LP) and earned rave reviews from Rolling Stone, Maximum Rock’n’Roll and dozens of other industry sources worldwide.
The CRY! Motto, “Never Suck,” has produced a professionalism, work ethic and sense- of-purpose typically seen in older well-seasoned acts. In three short years, the band's hard work, rare musical chemistry, upbeat energy, hooky songwriting, and “DO-IT- YOURSELF” attitude have garnered over 100,000 views on YouTube , and 8,000 Facebook fans. Additionally, the band has earned and maintained #1 and Top 10 rankings on ReverbNation’s local and national charts for over three years.

In February of 2013, the Mooster Records (Chicago) release of The CRY!’s “Discotheque” on 7” vinyl became the label’s fastest selling release to date! In November 2013 SP Records (Tokyo) released another 7” vinyl featuring two tracks from the latest LP project. Additionally, the band has been featured on several compilation releases and most recently recorded “ELO Kiddies” for Zero Hour Records as part of the label’s upcoming Cheap Trick tribute release.
In Late September 2013 the band went back into the studio with original Kingsmen guitarist Mike Mitchell to re-record “Louie Louie” as part of the 50th anniversary celebration of the release of this American rock classic! In Early December (2013) The CRY! recorded "Shama Lama Ding Dong" and "Shout" for the soon-to-be-released "Animal House of Blues" documentary.

On March 1st, 2014 The CRY! released their 2nd studio LP "Dangerous Game." The highly anticipated sophomore album immediately earned high-praise from critics worldwide and sold out initial pressing on CD and 12” vinyl within three months. One label executive, after hearing the new album, summed up his critique in one word: "epic!"
In October 2014 "Dangerous Game: U.S. Edition" was released as the bands first domestic offering. The record features 13 previously released tracks and one exclusive track "Last Thing That I Do."

2015 was filled with successful touring of U.S. and Europe and 2016 has been spent in the studio writing and recording their third fulllength release scheduled for early 2017.
